Wednesday Quote

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

Thought of the Day

"No system of software is complete until it supports lying in all its complexity." —Ben Sittler, software engineer extraordinaire

Quote for the Day

Awaking once again from a wonderful dream of a man I have never met (though I know he exists; he's famous), I feel that the following poem conveys something of what I feel.

Better never to have met you
In my dream
Than to wake and reach
For hands that are not there.

—Otomo No Yakamochi

Though I believe that what happens in our dreams is as real or perhaps even more real than this 3D world we call reality; things of the spirit last far longer than things of the flesh. Perhaps someday I will meet him in this world; if not, I have the very real feelings from my dreams to sustain me.

Quote for the Day

The perfume of sandalwood, the scent of rose and jasmine travel only as far as the wind. But the fragrance of goodness travels with us through all the worlds. Like the garlands woven from a heap of flowers, fashion your life as a garland of beautiful deeds.

—Buddha

Ashriel

According to this Web site, Ashriel is "one of the seven angels with dominion over the earth. He is the angel that separates the soul from the body at the time of death. He can also be invoked to cure stupidity." I'll have to remember that.

Quote for the Day

"Whether your dog is 10 pounds or 110 pounds, it is still a dog. However, a 10-pound cat is a pet, but a 110-pound cat is higher than you on the food chain."

Quotes du jour

Today's message is quite short; it comes from the Christian bible:

"Finally, brethren,
whatever is true,
whatever is honorable,
whatever is right,
whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely,
whatever is of good repute,
if there is any excellence
and anything worthy of praise,
let your mind dwell on these things."
Philippians 4:8

And here is another short message: "Bravely face whatever the gods offer." --Morihei Ueshiba.

"Lord, when we are wrong, make us willing to change.
And when we are right, make us easy to live with."
