A Lot of Information, I Know!

I recognize that this Web-based version of my résumé is lengthy. I certainly don’t expect anyone to read it all the way through. I also hope that you don't take the mass of verbiage as an indication that I write too much. I am quite capable of being succinct and to the point.

I know time is precious for everyone, so in my documentation, I write with the readers in mind: they are probably rushed, in a hurry to find that one vital piece of information, and in no mood to have to wade through thousands of words to get to it. Writing succinctly and organizing that writing in a way that makes sense helps make that information accessible.

My skill as a professional indexer also helps.

So why so much here? Because the details of my experience won't fit on a two-page résumé. (Though I have a two-page résumé you can view.) Having it all here makes this set of pages an excellent source of in-depth information on specific aspects of my experience. It's also a nice way for me to keep track of the projects I have done.

Summary

Setting modesty aside, my writing, editing, and indexing skills place me among the best in the field. I am not saying I am the only top-notch technical writer, editor, indexer, and manager, because of course I am not. There are a lot of talented people in the field!

I have over twenty-five years of experience as a senior technical writer, developmental editor, and professional indexer, including 17 years as a consultant. I have been project lead or project manager many times, and a publications manager twice. I am competent on a variety of operating systems and with a number of software applications, and at building and managing happy and successful publications groups.

I am especially proficient at documenting all kinds of software, from user's guides to developer’s guides, and at getting along with all manner of folk. I work quietly and efficiently while maintaining a courteous and professional attitude.

This experience gives me a solid blend of technical skills and business savvy that makes me a great addition to any project.

If you are looking for experience with a particular type of documentation or tool and you don’t see it here, please ask. Chances are that I have done it, worked with it, or am competent enough to do it. If not, I’ll tell you.

If, after reading my résumé, you feel that I am a good fit for the task at hand, and/or would like further information about what I can do for you, please contact me! I look forward to hearing from you.
